The presence of the fungus beetle Adistemia watsoni was detected recently in Greece by the authors firstly in damp locations of several dwellings on stored fruits (plums) and seeds (corn). Later, the same insect was found inside humid storage facilities and warehouses containing dried fruits and animal feed, but also under baseboard molding and dump crooked walls in buildings. In 2011, it was also found in dried walnuts infected by Mucor mucedo. The morphology, habits, distribution and measures to be taken in order to prevent or control the insect infestation are given. |
