heal.abstract Andros is the northernmost island of the Cyclades complex (central Aegean Sea), and the one with the highest annual precipitation. In addition, it is the only one possessing several small rivers of constant water-flow, and a particularly rich diversity of vascular plants consisting mainly of macchie, phrygana and several large tree stands. This work presents the results of a long-term study which lasted more than 10 years on the diversity of the phylum Basidiomycota, subclass Agaricomycetidae (orders Agaricales and Boletales). The respective detailed inventory includes records of 231 taxa at species or subspecies level which belong to 70 genera; the presence of the genus Naucoria is reported for the first time in Greece. In addition, 49 taxa constitute new records for Greece, while other 100 taxa are reported on new habitats, substrates and/or hosts. Brief descriptions of morphological features and key diagnostic characters are provided for several interesting findings, with emphasis on those cases where notable deviations were observed in respect to pertinent literature reports. © 2012 J.
