The qualitative analysis and determination of saffron components using chromatographic and spectroscopic methods is described. Combination of LC-MS data with UV-Vis, FT-IR, FT-Raman and 1H NMR and crystal structure analysis data prove useful information in identifying of saffron compounds. In addition, the effects of saffron carotenoids on cell proliferation and differentiation of K562 and HL-60 cells cancer human cell lines in vitro are demonstrated. |
