Philaeuns tarifa sp. n. is described. This species is found only in two localities in southern Spain and brings the number of Philaenus species in the west Palaearctic up to seven. P. tarifa sp. n. has long and slender spines of the anal tube similar to the three taxa of the P. signatus-group but differs from them by the structure of the male aedeagus, from P. maghresignus Drosopoulos & Remane with which it lives sympatrically and syntopically, also by its smaller size and a more stout body, in which character it agrees with P. spumarius tesselatus Mel. |
