dc.description.abstract The present study refers to the rehabilitation of the urban occupied by Panathinaikos football field and the refugee’s apartment houses at Alexandra Avenue in order to createan urban park. The designing was initiated with the site analysis and its surroundings involving the legal regime, the anthropogenic environment, the climatic data, the structures, and the uses and operations that have been developed in the region. The design proposal was based and inspired from the historical essence of the region as well as on the functionality of the urban park as a connective formation with the neighboring areas and its aim to serve as an attraction. For the accomplishment of the proposed study the degradation of Alexandra Avenue is necessitated and provideda total area of unified 44 acresmake them hectares The design is embedded on the study area and results in a linear and formal planning that creates a reversed T and creates a bipolar interest of the urban park in an effort to maximize its exploitation by the visitors. The texture and appearance of the proposed design is unified further by the interconnection of the two bipolar areas of interest through a spectacular water constructionwhile the continuity is established throughout the study area with the use of similar materials, plant types and equipment. The facilitation of the accessibility and the guidance of visitors was achieved with the use of central pathways that cross the study area, while smaller secondary pathways were also created from and towards the points of interest and the surrounding uses. The pathways were emphasized with the utilization of parallel plantings with the areas of movement from the pedestrians and the bicyclists. Retaining of the historical memories of Panathinaikos was achieved through the construction of a museum and 5x5 sportfields, the designing of the central square in the form of a football ball and the creation of an amphitheatre in the locality where the late stands of Panathinaikos fans was situated. Similarly the memories and the history of the refugee apartment houses is retained throught the placement of sculpture as a focal point. 7 The urban park is designed to host therapeutic and healing gardens due to its proximity with several hospitals, to attract young visitors of different ages through the athletic activities and the playgrounds, to be hospitable and facilitate transit visitors and to contribute to the improvement of the bioclimatic conditions of the area el
